Dear Parents and Guardians of Bus Riders,
With afternoon temperatures reaching 100 degrees or higher, we want to take additional steps to help keep our students safe and as comfortable as possible during their bus ride home.
Beginning today, the South Conway County School District will provide cold bottled water to students riding our buses home in the afternoons when temperatures are extremely hot.
Our school buses are equipped with air conditioning; however, during extreme heat, it can be difficult for the air conditioning systems to keep up—especially when buses are making frequent stops and opening their doors. When appropriate, we will also allow bus windows to be opened to increase airflow and help keep the buses cooler.
We will continue providing bottled water during afternoon routes for as long as temperatures remain extremely hot.
Thank you for your understanding and, most importantly, for the trust you place in us each day. The safety and well-being of your children are extremely important to us. We will continue doing everything we reasonably can to keep them safe, hydrated, and comfortable while they are in our care.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust in the South Conway County School District.

📚🎉 We Can’t Wait to Welcome Our k-1 Primary Pups! 🎉📚 The first day of school for K-12 is Wednesday, August 12, and we’re excited to welcome our K-1 students to Morrilton Primary School! 🏫 Parents are welcome to walk their K-1 students into the building beginning at 7:15 a.m. You may help them find their classroom, meet their teacher, and snap those special first-day-of-school pictures! 📸❤️ 🍎 After visiting the classroom, please escort your child back to the cafeteria so they can enjoy breakfast before heading back to class. ⏰ Students need to be in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. to start the school day and allow our cafe staff to get ready for ABC PreK students who will be entering shortly. 📝 Please send a note telling your child’s teacher how he/she will get home Wednesday (for certain and the rest of the week if you know!) Teachers want to make sure your child gets home safely! ⏰ The School Day is officially 8:00-3:25! We plan for every minute of the instructional day! Please help your child create good attendance habits by minimizing tardies and absences as much as possible! We can’t wait to see all of our K-1 Primary Pups on Wednesday for an amazing start to a fantastic school year! ❤️🩶🐾

Today, the South Conway County School District mourns the loss of one of our own, **retired educator Ms. Judy Calhoun**, whose life and legacy touched generations of children, families, and colleagues.
Ms. Calhoun faithfully served our district for many years as a reading interventionist, serving children at multiple schools, including **East Side Elementary in Menifee** and **Reynolds Elementary School**. She also served as a counselor at Reynolds Elementary. In addition, she was instrumental in helping establish kindergarten in our district during the 1970s, leaving a lasting impact on countless young learners and helping shape the foundation of education for children in our community.
Throughout her career, Ms. Calhoun truly embodied our district's purpose to **Love, Serve, and Care for People**. Whether encouraging a struggling reader, comforting a child, supporting a family, or mentoring a colleague, she demonstrated compassion, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to others every single day.
We extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to her family, especially her daughters, Lynn and Leeann, during this difficult time. We also pray for the many former students, families, friends, and coworkers whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
The influence of a great educator lives on in the lives they shape. Ms. Judy Calhoun's legacy will continue to be seen in the generations of children she loved, served, and inspired. She will be deeply missed, but her example of loving, serving, and caring for people will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Please join us in keeping her family in your thoughts and prayers.

The South Conway County School District is proud to recognize Micah Autrey, a senior at Morrilton High School, for representing our district as a student panelist at the Arkansas School Boards Association Southern Region Leadership Conference in Hot Springs.
Micah was recommended by school leaders because of the leadership, character, and example he demonstrates in both our school and our community. During the conference, he joined other outstanding student leaders from across Arkansas in a moderated panel discussion with school board members and education leaders from Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
The Student Leadership Panel provided attendees with the opportunity to hear directly from students about the experiences, opportunities, and relationships that have shaped their educational journeys. Panelists shared insights on what helps students succeed, how schools prepare them for the future, and ways schools can continue improving for the next generation of learners.
We are incredibly proud of Micah for representing Morrilton High School and the South Conway County School District with excellence. His willingness to share his experiences and perspectives reflects the outstanding young people we are privileged to serve.
Congratulations, Micah, and thank you for being an exceptional ambassador for our district!
