The South Conway County School District is proud to announce that Morrilton High School has been recognized as one of the top high schools in Arkansas and the nation in the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.
Morrilton High School is ranked #34 out of 339 high schools in Arkansas and #22 out of 278 public high schools in Arkansas. Nationally, Morrilton High School is ranked #2,802. MHS also earned an impressive overall score of 84.39 out of 100.
The recognition reflects the continued work of Morrilton High School students, teachers, staff, administrators, families, and the entire South Conway County School District community.
U.S. News & World Report evaluates schools using multiple measures of student success, including college readiness, college-level curriculum, state assessment proficiency and performance, and graduation rates.
Among the indicators highlighted for Morrilton High School were:

Superintendent Shawn Halbrook said the recognition reflects the collective work of the entire Morrilton High School community.
“We are extremely proud of Morrilton High School and the people who make it such a special place. Being ranked #34 out of 339 high schools in Arkansas and #22 out of 278 public high schools in our state is something worth celebrating. This recognition reflects students who work hard, teachers and staff who believe in them and challenge them every day, administrators who provide strong leadership, and families and a community who continue to support our schools.”
Halbrook emphasized that while the district is proud to celebrate the recognition, the ranking also motivates MHS to keep improving.
“We are grateful for the recognition, but our goal is bigger than a ranking. Our mission is to maximize the safety, learning, and achievement of every scholar, every day. We want to improve what is working, improve what is not, simplify where we can, and continue creating opportunities for every student to grow and succeed. We will celebrate this accomplishment, and then we will get back to work getting better every day.”
Morrilton High School provides students with numerous opportunities to prepare for college, career, and life after graduation, including Advanced Placement courses, concurrent college credit, career and technical education pathways, and opportunities for students to earn postsecondary credentials while still in high school.
