Great news! There are no bus route modifications for Thursday, February 5th. All buses will run on their regular routes and schedules.

Bus Route Modifications – Wednesday, February 4

For the safety of our scholars and due to road conditions, the South Conway County School District will have the following bus route modifications on Wednesday, February 4:

Bus 4: Students who normally ride on Woodland Road will need to meet at the Menifee Post Office.

Bus 72: Students who normally ride on York Drive will need to meet at the intersection of Gordon Brake and Mt. Zion Loop.

During National School Counseling Week, the South Conway County School District proudly recognizes and celebrates our outstanding school counselors: Sandra Oliver, Christy Meeler, Candace Canady, Sonia Kibe, Jordan Schneider, and Casey Squires.

Our counselors play a vital role in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally, and in helping them plan for future opportunities. Every day, they help students navigate challenges, build confidence, set goals, and stay focused on success—both in and out of the classroom.

We are grateful for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to serving students and families across our district. Their work makes a real difference in our scholars' lives.

Morrilton Primary School celebrates School Counseling Week and our own Mrs. Sandra Oliver!

Due to last week’s winter weather, the South Conway County School District missed five consecutive days of school, resulting in the loss of five valuable Tier 1 instructional days for our students. Because teaching and learning matter—and in alignment with our mission to maximize safety and learning, students will make up one of those snow days on Thursday, February 12.

Thursday, February 12th, will be a student learning day for grades PreK–12, following the regular school schedule.
Important details for Thursday, February 12:
• Student Learning Day (PreK–12)
• Regular school hours: 8:00 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.
• Parent-Teacher Conferences: 3:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.

By using February 12 as a learning day, the district will regain 6.3666 hours of instructional time, helping offset the loss of Tier 1 instructional time due to winter weather and ensuring students receive the learning opportunities they need to stay on track.

Additional reminders:
• Friday, February 13 – Winter Break (No School)
• Monday, February 16 – Presidents’ Day (No School)

Clearing ice-covered roads in difficult and dangerous conditions is no small task, and your long hours and commitment help keep our community safer. With all the icy weather we’ve had, and all the K-1 ATLAS testing we are doing next week, At MPS, we’re giving the number 100 a little extra love LATER this year! Instead of celebrating the 100th day of school next week, we’ll be waiting until FEBRUARY 11, our Valentine’s Day celebration, to mark this special milestone. 💕 By combining the joy of the 100+ day with the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’re making the celebration even more meaningful, fun, and full of heart for our students. We can’t wait to celebrate learning, kindness, and 100+ days of growth—all in one sweet day! Hey MPS Families, We are sure missing our Primary Pups! Here are some ideas to help with inside doldrums as we spend one more day out of school! ⏱️ You don’t have to do all 10! Just 15–30 minutes a day of a few activities helps little MPS learners grow! ☐ 📖 Read or look at books ☐ ✍️ Draw, color, or even scribble a picture ☐ 🧩 Play with puzzles, blocks, or LEGOs ☐ 🎨 Make something creative (art, craft, play dough) ☐ 🖐️ Practice fine motor skills (cut scrap paper or junk mail, build, peel stickers, string beads) ☐ 🏃 Move your body (dance, jump, hop, stretch) ☐ 🍳 Help with daily jobs (cook, bake, clean up, sort things) ☐ 👟 Practice self-help skills (dress, zip, button, wash hands) ☐ 🎲 Play a game (board or cards) with a family member (practice taking turns) ☐ 🔢 Count, sort, or name shapes and colors around your home Stay warm and enjoy the snow/ice! ☃️❄️

After continued assessment of road conditions across our district, we have determined that roads outside the city of Morrilton remain packed with ice. While some melting is expected this afternoon, it will not be sufficient to safely improve conditions, particularly on secondary roads and bus routes.

As a result, the South Conway County School District will not have school tomorrow, Thursday, January 29.

This decision is made with one priority in mind: maximizing the safety of our scholars, families, and staff. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these winter weather conditions.

With school closed due to winter weather, we encourage you to take advantage of today and tomorrow to read, catch up on assignments, and stay engaged in your learning.

Use this time wisely—whether that means completing work, getting ahead, or strengthening positive learning habits. Learning continues, even when we are not in the classroom.

Most importantly, have fun, but be safe. Take care of yourself, look out for others, and make smart choices during these winter conditions.
